About Calvin Saputra
Hi, My name is Calvin Saputra Lai, though i prefer Calvin Lai more. I'm a creative web developer and designer based in Jakarta, building websites that move instead of just sitting there looking nice. I was born indonesian Chinese and i grew up in Jakarta, the city that shaped me from the person that had no idea what to do into someone who loves everything about creativity.
I come from a family I love. My dad works in IT, which is also one of the reason why i also like doing computer things. My mom is the heart of the family. She raised me to become a good person, and one thing she always tells me has stuck with me: when you make it, you must help the people who need it. Growing up as the middle child of three brothers, that lesson from her stuck with all of us equally.
That love for computers eventually took me to Taiwan, where I studied Computer Science and picked up the technical foundation I still lean on today. These days, most of that energy goes into Lailit, my creative studio, where I get to combine it with an obsession over how things move and feel. Got a project that deserves to feel alive? I used to abandon creativity. Now I chase it again, without rushing, just enjoying the process of building.
